Among the tourist destination in the area where food-diversified restaurants introduced this year, we also picked up various topics about nature. Because Japan is a long and narrow island country that lies from north to south and also located in the middle of the northern hemisphere with various climates zones from the subtropical region in the south to the cold zone (subarctic zone) in the north, it makes Japan has four seasons; spring, summer, autumn, and winter that enrich the nature of Japan.

‘Goshikinuma Ponds’ A Mysterious Lake with Various Color Change

‘Goshikinuma Ponds’ is located in Yama District, Fukushima Prefecture. The exact location is on the north side of Mt. Bandai, which straddles Inawashiro city, Bandai city, and Kitashiobara village, also there are more than 30 large and small lakes and swamps in the area called Urabandai, and it’s designated as Bandai Asahi National Park. In 2016, it was certified as a 1-star by Michelin Guide which makes it one of Fukushima’s leading tourist destinations.

Goshikinuma is not a name given because there are five swamps, but the swamps that rich in various colors and expressions such as red, blue, green, etc. The color of the lakes changes depending on the season, weather, time of day, and the environment at that time, so each time you visit you will see different scenery.

From JR Koriyama Station, take Ban-Etsusai line to Inawashiro Station. After that, take Bandai Eastern Bus departing from Inawashiro Station to Urabandai / Hibara area to Gokishinuma entrance. It takes 1hour 30 minutes from Koriyama station.

Enter Ban-etsu Highway from Koriyama JCT on Tohoku Highway, get off at Inawashiro Bandai Kogen IC, go north on Route 115 and turn left on Route 459 toward Kitakata. It takes about 1 hour from Michi Inawashiro / Bandai Kogen IC.

‘Matsuhima’ One of Three Most Famous Scenic Spot in Japan

‘Matsushima’ is located in Miyagi Prefecture, Tohoku Region. It’s one of the three most scenic spots in Japan along with ‘Miyajima’ in Hiroshima and ‘Amanohashidate’ in Kyoto. Each year, more than 6 million tourists visit to see this famous scenery.

‘Matsushima’ is the scenery include the islands inside and outside Matsushima Bay and Matsushima Hills surrounding the bay in Miyagi Prefecture. This spectacular scenery has been fascinated people’s heart since the Heian period, it’s the charm of gods of the islands that illuminated the scenery by the rising sun from the horizon when the sky and sea look beautiful in the daytime, and when the moon floating in the night, no matter what time you look at it, the expressions at the time is wonderful and it continues to be engraved in people’s heart until now.

‘Awa Sand Pillars’, The Beauty Spot that 3 in the World

Awa Sand Pillars in Tokushima Prefecture, Shikoku, is a rare place in the world that was created naturally over the years. It’s called one of the three major hoodoos in the world along with Rocky Mountains in the USA and Tyrol region in Southern Italy. It was designated as a natural national monument on May 1, 1834, and has been selected as one of 88 views in Shikoku and in Tokushima.

Many pillars line up and made ‘soil curtain’ is a very magnificent scenery. The ever-changing appearance is like hearing the breath of the earth, and it can be said nature’s work of art.

‘Fugaku Wind Cave and Narusawa Ice Cave’, The Mystery of Nature Surrounded by Fuji Jukai

There are many caves in Fuji Jukai (Aokigahara Jukai) at the foot of Mt. Fuji. These caves created by the volcanic activity of Mt. Fuji in 864, surrounded by trees where the temperatures don’t rise even in summer so it always cool.

Among the caves in Fuji Jukai, Fugaku Wind Cave and Narusawa Ice Cave are particularly huge in scale, and both have been designated as natural monuments. The caves, which were built over 1000 years ago, conveys the traces of the eruption of Mt. Fuji at the time.
