These Are The Answers About Prayer Room and Halal Foods at The MPC

On 24 July 2021, there was news brought by a Japanese Digital Media Kyodo News mentions that 「Main Press Centre (MPC) as the base for domestic and foreign media covering the Tokyo Olympics, had not prepared for Islamic prayer rooms and halal foods that brings bad reputation from Muslims」(main article:https://nordot.app/791573286711459840?c=39550187727945729). However, Tokyo Big Sight, the headquarter of Main Press Centre (MPC), has prayer room set up since 2015.

With curiosity, we contacted and confirmed to the Tokyo Organizing Committee for Olympic and Paralympic Games and these are the answers.

A. The existing prayer room is closed during the tournament due to the use of the facility for other purposes. The Main Press Centre (MPC) does not have facilities for specific religions, but we have separate multipurpose rooms for men and women which can be used upon request.
