Hello, this is Shimizu, an intern at HMJ. I revisited HALAL ramen shop “Ouka” in Shinjuku that we interviewed in September 2015 to try out their new Spicy Ramen. The Spicy Ramen was made as a response to requests from Indonesian and Malaysian students for a spicy ramen. The ramen was made to suit the taste buds of Indonesian, Malaysian, and Singaporean customers, and is not only spicy but also delicious. The secret lays in ingredients that bring out concentrated depth in flavors within the spiciness. The intense flavors of Thai chili and garlic are very appetizing. Of course, the spicy soup is perfect for ochazuke (rice with soup or tea poured on) for a perfect finish to your meal. I was able to hear that “It was delicious” from a family visiting from Singapore. They had many Japanese customers as well, and I also smacked my lips over the ramen. The Spicy Ramen from “Ouka” is perfect for Muslim people feeling that “I have tried good ramen in Japan, but they are just not spicy enough.” With plans for a new menu to appear shortly, no one can stop Ouka, which continues to evolve.
Ouka is within 3 minute walk from Exit 2 of Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line “Shinjukugyoenmae Station,” so please give it a try.
