Experience Luxurious Halal Dining in Kyoto at the Renowned Michelin-Starred Honke Tankuma Honten

In contrast to the usual requirement of reserving halal meals a few days in advance, Kyoto’s Michelin-starred restaurant, “Honke Tankuma Honten,” proudly announced the launch of its same-day reservation halal course on May 28, 2024.

This new offering features meticulously charcoal-grilled halal Wagyu beef and top-tier halal jidori chicken (Awa Odori brand), prepared by skilled chefs.

Jidori chicken, a mixed-breed domestic free-range chicken, is renowned for its robust flavor. Awa Odori jidori chicken is widely recognized as one of the best chicken brands. On March 29, 2001, Awa Odori became the first chicken brand to receive the JAS seal, certifying its superior quality.

Exclusive Halal Dining Experience

Honke Tankuma Honten has been dedicated to serving halal cuisine since 2014, delighting the palates of many Muslim guests. Previously, due to preparation requirements, halal courses required a two-day advance reservation.

However, driven by the desire of the young owner to make halal Japanese cuisine more accessible to Muslim visitors, the restaurant has developed a halal course that can be ordered with same-day reservations.

As of May 2024, Honke Tankuma Honten remains the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Japan offering halal dishes. Additionally, it is the only place in Japan where guests can enjoy halal jidori chicken, making it a unique dining destination for Muslim travelers seeking luxurious Japanese cuisine.
