Ramadhan has become a chance for us to improve our discipline and self-control as well as deepen our understanding about Islam, in order to be a better person. Islamic activities that are common to be held during Ramadhan such as iftar party or Al-Qur’an recitation together in the mosque are canceled to prevent the infection these days.

Therefore, Asagohan no Kai that was born in March 2021 organizes an online gathering after the Fajr prayer (that attracts a number of Muslim residents and Japanese to join!) which we will introduce to you today.

Asagohan no Kai Gives A Sharing Places for Everyone

The name of “Asagohan no Kai” comes with the concept of “morning is a blissful time to fill our heart with Islamic lesson” that is started by Ahlan school, a Ramadhan preparation class based in Indonesia and operates by young Muslims in Japan.

The community creates a place for everyone to share their daily life related to Islam and Islamic lesson with each other, participated by Muslims in Japan, Japanese reverts, and those who want to know about Islam.

During the holy month of Ramadhan, Asagohan no Kai holds a study session every morning from 4 to 5 am after suhoor and Fajr prayer in Japan to support a productive morning. The session is taken casually in all-Japanese with an easy-to-understand manner so that even the first-timer can join the lesson at ease.

A Testimony from Members

I love Asagohan no Kai! There is no mosque nearby and it’s hard to find Muslim friends here in the place I’m living. I thought that I will spend all days in the holy month by fasting, iftar, and celebrate Eid all by myself, but Alhamdulillah, I was invited by Ms. Annisa, the vice president of Asagohan no Kai, to join the activities. Even though in reality I have to suhoor alone, but after that, I can have “spiritual breakfast”  with other Muslim friends on Zoom!

I think, online activities and societies like Asagohan no Kai are extremely important in Japan, especially for a Muslim revert like myself who may do fasting alone without any Muslim member in the family or a Muslim community nearby.

Message From The Committee

Asagohan no Kai creates a friendly yet comfortable place for everyone to learn about Islam with fun, with a concept to share various points of view and experiences. It is important to have a community that respects each other values or perspectives and free from judgment, that’s why we created Asagohan no Kai.

As the Muslim population is getting bigger in Japan, we hope that Muslim communities that accommodate people from different backgrounds will increase.
