Shunan City Tokuyama Zoo
Tokuyama Zoo in the center of Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture is a zoo that is loved as a place of relaxation for the citizens. The park, which is currently undergoing a complete renewal with the aim of completing in 2027, continues to evolve so that visitors can enjoy it even more.

Variety of Animals Living in the Zoo
There are about 111 kinds of animals such as lions, tigers, giraffes, zebras, elephants, hippos, prairie dogs, capybaras, wallabies, meerkats, red pandas, and other cute animals that make the visitors relax just by seeing them.

Penguin Pool
The visitors can observe the penguins swimming as if they were flying in the water from the 7m wide acrylic aquarium! There is also an observation area where visitors can see the penguins relaxing on the rocks.

Runcha♪Runcha
“Suru yo” (means “to do) is said “suruncha” in Yamaguchi dialect that becomes the origin of the facility’s name with the image of an exciting experience, where visitors can interact with small animals such as guinea pigs, mice, rabbits, and chicks. There are events are held every day with some are paid experiences where children can experience the work of the zookeeper.

Nature Learning Center “Neicharu”
This is a facility where the visitors can observe red pandas and birds closely, as Tokuyama Zoo is a zoo known for its high breeding success of red pandas. In addition, visitors can observe the wild birds that live in the prefecture in a large walk-through cage.
