But what about Muslim travelers? Let’s face it—clearly labeled halal options are limited inside the Expo grounds.

While that can be a challenge, here’s the good news: vegan and plant-based meals are widely available, which is made free from animal derivatives—making them a practical and inclusive choice for Muslims when consumed with caution and discretion.

We explored the venue to find the best Muslim-friendly vegan eats—and here’s what you need to know.

 QBB Diversity-Friendly Kitchen

Located in the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion food area near the East Gate, this stand lives up to its name. Everything here is 100% plant-based (vegan), with options like:

・Vegan kushikatsu (Osaka’s local fried skewers) (750 yen)
・“Mirai no Omiyage” vegan cheese pudding (750 yen)
・Gluten-free donuts (500 yen/pcs)

Vegan Café

Head to the West Gate to find Future Life Zone and you’ll spot a cozy food truck offering:

・Vegan tantan noodles with rich soy-based broth (1,500 yen)
・Colorful vegetable gyoza—a taste-and-compare treat (900 yen)
・Vegan sesame red bean balls (500 yen)

NISSEI Softcream

If you’re craving something sweet and refreshing, head to NISSEI’s stall for their plant-based soft cream, just across from the QBB Diversity Kitchen inside Osaka Healthcare Pavilion where you can try:

・Dairy-free, egg-free soft cream in four flavors: vanilla, strawberry, espresso, and earl grey.

*Contains soy bean.

Made without any animal products, this vegan-friendly treat is perfect for Muslim visitors and those with dietary restrictions.

The serving method is as fun as the dessert itself—watch your cone get filled in a cute, machine-assisted performance.

Note

・The espresso flavor is pre-served by staff.
・Since it’s plant-based, the soft cream tends to melt faster than regular milk-based ones, so enjoy it quickly!

The relaxed, green environment makes it perfect for dining in or grabbing takeout. It’s one of the few places that offers both halal-labeled and vegan meals—ideal if you’re visiting with friends who have mixed dietary needs.

What Muslim Visitors Should Know

  • Bringing your own food is allowed—just expect bag and drink checks at the gate.

  • Many vendors offer allergen info and English menus, but don’t hesitate to ask about ingredients, especially alcohol-based seasonings.

  • Vegan ≠ Halal, but vegan meals can be safe alternatives when halal is not available—with discretion.

Prayer Room at the Forest of Tranquility (Near East Gate)

Located in the Forest of Tranquility Zone, close to the East Gate, the prayer room is thoughtfully divided into separate spaces for men and women. It is fully equipped with wudu’ facilities and tatami-style prayer mats that add a uniquely Japanese touch to the experience.

The space is spacious, clean, and calm, offering a serene environment for worship—even though it’s right next to a children’s playground and a rest area. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how quiet and peaceful it feels inside, making it an ideal spot for a moment of spiritual pause during your Expo visit.

The Osaka Expo is not only a glimpse into the future—it’s a place where inclusion is taking root in small but meaningful ways. While halal options are limited, vegan meals can be a practical and tasty solution for Muslim visitors.

Whether you’re craving soft cream, curry udon, or a plant-based burger, there’s something here for everyone. Just remember to ask questions, enjoy mindfully, and make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime event.
