Enjoy plant-based eggs at home!

UMAMI UNITED JAPAN PTE LTD, a venture company focusing on the development of plant-based eggs, announced that their amazing plant-based「UMAMI EGG」is on sale for retail starting from July 30th, 2022!

The product has only been sold for commercial use, mainly for nursery schools and kindergartens dealing daily with egg and milk allergies. With many inquiries requesting to make it available for home use, the company decided to sell it retail.

UMAMI EGG is available in 25 g (5 bags of 5 g) with a price of 1,500 yen (shipping fee and tax in) for about 10 servings. Mix with soy milk to make about 500 ml (500 g) of plant-based eggs.

Ingredients information

Konjac powder (domestic product), tapioca starch, nutritional yeast, pumpkin powder, mandarin orange powder, rock salt, wood ear mushroom’s umami powder, carrot powder / gelling agent (sodium alginate, carrageenan, locust bean gum), calcium sulfate, magnesium chloride

Amendment

Sodium alginate and carrageenan are polysaccharides extracted from seaweed. Locust bean gum is a polysaccharide extracted from carob beans. Calcium sulfate and magnesium chloride are used as coagulants like bittern in making tofu.

Allergies-related information

The “mandarin orange powder” used as a raw material uses unshiu mandarin oranges, which is a different type from “oranges” that are subject to allergens. Unshiu mandarin orange is not designated as an allergen.
