Halal Ramen that needed a long time to be perfect
Edo-men Kumahachi is now open in Morishita Station, Tokyo.
Although the shop is not HALAL-certified, HALAL chicken from nansatsushokucho, HALAL and chemical additives, as well as fine shoyu ramen and Tsukemen using hand-made alcohol-free noodles. We do not serve alcohol, and there is nothing in the shop that is not HALAL.
We interviewed the owner, Mr. Yazawa.
Motivation behind starting Muslim-friendly services?
I travelled to more than 40 countries when I was younger. While interacting with many different cultures and religions, I realized that the major barrier for people not able to eat ramen was due to religious restriction. Therefore, I thought of developing ramen that can correspond to everyone around the world.
Correspondence and devices made for the Muslim-friendly service
It was very difficult to make delicious HALAL ramen without using any MSG. It took over 2 years to prefect it, but the finished product is reasonably and the taste is convincing to Japanese customers too.
Message to Muslims
Ramen is about creating a small world inside the bowl. We wish that this will become a chance to get to know about Japan and start liking the country.
