A New Plant-Based Japanese Meal Joins A Growing Selection At Tokyo DisneySea
Planning what to eat is often one of the biggest parts of preparing for a trip to Japan as a vegan traveler.
That can feel especially important when you’re spending an entire day inside a theme park.
The good news is that Tokyo DisneySea already offers a variety of plant-based menu items throughout the park, making it easier for vegan visitors to enjoy a full day without having to leave for a meal.
And now, there’s another option to look forward to.
Beginning July 1, 2026, Tokyo DisneySea introduced a new Japanese-style plant-based meal at one of its popular restaurants.
A New Plant-Based Tempura Rice Bowl At Restaurant Sakura
Located in the American Waterfront area, Restaurant Sakura now serves Assorted Vegetable Tempura Over Rice for ¥2,900.
The meal features a colorful selection of vegetables, including:
- Pumpkin
- Eggplant
- Lotus root
- Broccoli
- Zucchini
- Sweet potato
- Portobello mushroom
- Baby corn
The vegetables are served over rice with pickled vegetables and broth, offering a Japanese-style meal that many international visitors may want to try during their DisneySea visit, poured with soy-sauce based tempura sauce.
According to Tokyo Disney Resort, the ingredients do not contain animal meat, seafood, eggs, dairy products, honey, or gelatin.
For travelers looking to experience Japanese cuisine while following a plant-based lifestyle, this menu provides another welcome option inside the park.
More Than Just One Vegan Meal
The new tempura rice bowl isn’t the only plant-based choice available.
Tokyo DisneySea already offers several plant-based menu items at restaurants throughout the park, ranging from light meals to full dining options.
Tokyo Disney Resort also marks eligible dishes with its official Plant-Based symbol, making it easier for guests to identify suitable menu items while exploring the park.
Since seasonal menus and restaurant availability may change, it’s a good idea to check the official Tokyo Disney Resort website or app before your visit to see the latest plant-based offerings.
A Few Tips Before You Visit
If you’d like to dine at Restaurant Sakura, making a reservation through the official Tokyo Disney Resort App can help reduce waiting time.
If reservations are unavailable, walk-in guests are also welcome. Visiting a little earlier or later than the busiest lunch hours often means a shorter wait.
It’s also worth knowing that Tokyo DisneySea is generally larger than Tokyo Disneyland, with more hills, bridges, and elevation changes throughout the park.
Many visitors walk well over 20,000 steps during the day, so comfortable shoes, lightweight clothing, and taking regular breaks can make your visit much more enjoyable.
Purchasing your park ticket in advance through the official Tokyo Disney Resort website or app is also recommended. Besides making park entry smoother, the app allows you to check restaurant availability, menus, and other useful information throughout the day.
An Important Note About Plant-Based Menus
Tokyo Disney Resort states that its plant-based menu items are prepared using ingredients that do not contain animal meat, seafood, eggs, dairy products, honey, or gelatin.
However, the resort also explains that these dishes are not guaranteed to be completely free of animal products, as restaurants prepare other menu items in the same kitchens and may use shared cooking equipment and frying oil.
Because every vegan traveler has different expectations and dietary standards, it’s always best to review the latest official information and decide whether a menu meets your own needs before ordering.
