A New Vegan Hospitality Experience In Kumamoto’s Ueki Onsen

In Ueki Onsen, Kumamoto City, Ryokan Hirayama has begun offering a new vegan course 「Japan All Stars Plan」designed around some of Japan’s most popular dishes — including ramen, sushi, tempura, and takoyaki.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of all four seasons, Ryokan Hirayama is a traditional hot spring inn that welcomes travelers from around the world in a calm and quiet setting.

Ryokan Hirayama

Its natural hot spring, known for its smooth and slightly thick texture, that flows directly from the source (gensen kakenagashi). The bath is so well regarded that even hot spring enthusiasts from across Japan visit regularly to enjoy it. The waters are said to gently relieve daily fatigue.

The ryokan is also known for incorporating seasonal local ingredients from Kumamoto into its cuisine, with each dish reflecting both the season and the skill of its chef. Guests are offered what many describe as a luxurious and carefully crafted experience, earning high praise from both domestic and international travelers.

Now, a new vegan option has been added to that experience.
