We will report what is going on at the front line of countermeasures for the 2020 issue through the interviews with exhibitors at Multicultural EXPO 2019 held in Asakusa in November 2019.

| Message / benefits to buyers and visitors | The world’s largest number of curry chain stores, CoCo Ichibanya (also known as “CoCo Ichi”) opened the first Halal certified curry shop in Akihabara (Tokyo), and second shop in Kabukicho, Shinjuku (Tokyo) where Muslim customers can enjoy the Japanese-style curry in peace of mind. Moreover, we serve “vegetarian curry” that is free from animal derived ingredient. The menu is available at some of CoCo Ichi shops, but it is planned to be available at all shops in December (excluding some shops). We believe, this step will let more people to enjoy the dish. |
①Please tell us something about your company and products.
CoCo Ichi allows you to customize your own curry with fun, from toppings and rice amount, to the spiciness level. This service also available at the halal Coco Ichi shops.
We also have kids curry menu at our Kabukicho Shinjuku shop.
②Why you started to venture into the food diversities?
Regarding halal shop, many tourists from all over the world are expected to visit Japan on Tokyo Olympics and among them, Muslims cannot enjoy the existing CoCo Ichi, that’s why we opened the halal shops so Muslim customers can enjoy the dish with peace of mind.
Moreover, we develop the vegetarian curry, so those who cannot consume animal-derived ingredients can enjoy the dish at ease.
③What is the best way to enjoy your products?
You can customize your own curry with fun as CoCo Ichi original allows you to choose the spiciness level, rice amount, and toppings from various of ingredients.
④What are your expectations for exhibiting at the Multicultural Expo 2019?
We want more people to know about CoCo Ichi and enjoy the Japanese-style curry.

On Multicultural EXPO 2019
By reinterpreting HALAL EXPO JAPAN, “Multicultural EXPO 2019 – Tomorrow of Japan – ” will come back to Asakusa for the first time in two years as an EXPO in which we can think about “eating, experiencing, and living” necessary for Japan to get ready for 2020 together with people from all over the world and learn what to do about not only foreign tourists visiting Japan but also immigrant foreigners.
