Universal Studios Japan’s Plant-Based Offerings for Everyone

Osaka’s Universal Studios Japan (USJ) has taken a significant step towards catering to diverse dietary preferences.

On November 6, 2023, the entertainment giant announced the introduction of “Plant-Based Menus” across six of its park restaurants. This move signifies a shift from offering special menus on request to integrating plant-based options into the main menu, with plans to expand to more restaurants through 2024.

To make these choices easily visible, a distinctive green icon will be displayed on menu boards on each restaurant and the official website, guiding guests to the plant-based offerings. This initiative aims to eliminate the need for guests to specifically request plant-based options, providing a seamless and enjoyable dining experience for everyone.

The “Plant-Based Menus” exclude animal-derived ingredients, such asmeat, fish, eggs, dairy, and honey, up to secondary raw materials, ensuring a comprehensive plant-based experience. Four existing items, previously offered as special menus, will join two new additions, totaling six plant-based options available as part of the main menu.

Commenting on the introduction of the “Plant-Based Menus,” Chef Takasuke Kataoka from the Food Service Department of USJ, as in the press release, expressed the park’s commitment to understanding and catering to the evolving needs and preferences of guests worldwide. The move is a response to the growing demand for diverse menu options that prioritize both health and taste.

Starting from November 6, 2023, visitors can explore a rich array of plant-based offerings across various restaurants within Universal Studios Japan, ensuring a fulfilling culinary experience that caters to both the body and the soul.
