This is the Time to Tap to the Japan Market!
Hello everyone! This is Food Diversity Inc from Tokyo, Japan.
We are happy to deliver you the latest information about Japan and its trends, Muslims in Japan and much more!
TOKYO OLYMPIC ; A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE FOOD INDUSTRY
According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, the number of travelers from Indonesia grew by over 400% from 2007 to 2017, while the increase from Malaysia exceeded 300%. Meanwhile, Malaysia has the edge over its Southeast Asian neighbor in the halal business with a market volume of $10.5 billion in 2017, followed by Indonesia with $7.6 billion. The Tokyo Olympics will attract even more South-Asian visitors to come to Japan. This will be a great opportunity for the food-industry to get ready for the need of halal-friendly cuisine. Once successful in serving the halal-market in Japan, it will be much easier to tackle halal needs in any other country around the world
WHAT HAPPENED AFTER SIGNING TWO MOUs?
Malaysia and Japan were supposed to cooperate to work on the halal industry in Japan, especially during the Tokyo Olympic / Paralympic games by signing two MOUs in May 2015 and Nov 2018. However, no particular updates on this have been released by either of these countries since then. What happened was an increasing number of Japanese local halal certified entities, recognized by JAKIM. This makes the Halal environment in Japan even more complicated as their strategies and standards are different. We have less than a year to go until the Tokyo Olympic/Paralympic games. What shall we do?
Oishii Diversity. Let’s get started!
Halal Expo Japan, which is the largest Halal exhibition in Japan since 2014 has been changed its name and updated its concept to Multicultural Expo 2019 to cover a wider range of food dietaries and international exchanges. The 5th edition of the event will be held on the 13th and 14th of November in Tokyo, just 8 months before the Tokyo Olympics/Paralympics games 2020.
