A Historic First for Japan and East Asia

Halal Media Japan, operated by Food Diversity Inc., has been awarded “Japan’s Leading Platform for Halal & Food Diversity Tourism” at the prestigious World Islamic Tourism Awards 2025 held in Bandar Sunway, Malaysia, on August 25, 2025.

This recognition marks a historic milestone as the very first award for Japan and East Asia in the Islamic Tourism Media category. The award highlights over a decade of continuous efforts to support Muslim travelers and residents in Japan, showcasing the country’s growing commitment to inclusivity and hospitality.

A Decade of Serving Muslim Travelers

Since its launch in 2014, Halal Media Japan has become the largest Muslim-focused media platform in Japan, sharing halal-friendly restaurant listings, prayer space information, and travel guides in multiple languages. With a combined following of nearly 300,000 across social media, the platform has built trust not only among travelers but also within Japan’s local communities and tourism industry.

The award reflects Halal Media Japan’s role in making Japan more accessible to Muslim visitors, ensuring they can explore the country with confidence and peace of mind.

The World Islamic Tourism Awards

The World Islamic Tourism Awards is organized by the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATA). In 2025, it was hosted as part of the World Islamic Tourism & Trade Expo (WITEX 2025) and the World Cultural & Arts Festival (WCAF 2025) at Sunway Resort Hotel, attracting global participation from ASEAN countries, BRICS, airlines, tourism boards, halal brands, and cultural organizations.

The event celebrated outstanding achievements in Islamic tourism worldwide, highlighting initiatives that create meaningful travel experiences for Muslim communities.

A Global Recognition for Japan

Receiving this award is not only an honor for Food Diversity Inc. but also a sign of Japan’s growing reputation as a Muslim-friendly destination. As global Muslim travel demand rises, this recognition signals a new chapter where Japan’s inclusive efforts are internationally acknowledged.

“This award is a testament to the power of collaboration and persistence. We dedicate it to all the Muslim travelers and residents who have supported us since the beginning,” said representatives from Food Diversity Inc.
